Opening day dedicated to sustainability and circular economy in roads infrastructures 

 

Debate among institutions, academic world and companies on strategies to reduce impacts on road building and maintenance 

The aim is to propose  innovative solutions to maximize  materials' recycling, prevent waste generation, reduce energy consumption and foster more sustainable building and upkeep procedures for the whole life of works.

 

 

12.00-14.00

Meeting dealing with  technological innovation applied to roads infrastructures, with a particular focus   on  "AI" and on "Smart Roads" 

The purpose of this debate is to underline  how the integration of digital technologies, sensor technologies  and connectivity might transform roads into smart platforms.

Also experts will  try to propose solutions to better  traffic management and mobility, increase road safety and offer new services to citizens, thus  preparing infrastructures to future challenges (connected vehicles, self-driving, smart cities )   

 

12.00-14.00

Last day dedicated to road safety. This meeting will shed light to  the idea that a  prompt and qualified maintenance may save lives:  safe roads, bridges and infrastructures depend on steady and regular  care and decay  prevention.

 

The aim is to emphasize  that planning  and implementing  effective maintenance programmes, presenting  innovative technologies to control and manage infrastructures and fully  understanding  the shared responsibility between public bodies and private firms may guarantee safe trips to all the citizens.
